В семье Татьяны Питерсон, владелицы детского сада «Подсолнух», случилась беда: в результате несчастного случая на озере Тахо ее дочь Елена сломала позвоночник. После проведенной сложнейшей операции прогноз врачей неутешителен: Елена вряд ли сможет ходить. К сожалению, у Елены нет медицинской страховки, которая бы покрыла все медицинские расходы по лечению. В настоящее время ее семья пытается собрать деньги на транспортировку - для этого нужен специальный медицинский транспорт, чтобы доставить Елену из Невады в одну из больниц Миннесоты.

Dear friends and family, This is probably the hardest email I've ever written.
On Friday evening October 9, Elena was on vacation in Lake Tahoe and was walking on a pier and fell off. She landed on a rock and broke her back and was medvaced to a Level 2 trauma Reno Hospital. She was in surgery for 3 hours Saturday morning at the Reknown Regional Medical Center in Reno, NV.
The surgeons opinion by phone Saturday and Today was that there was "significant" damage to her spinal cord it it is unlikely she will walk again.
We got Tatyana on a flight Saturday and she is there with her and we are hopeful both will be back in MN at the end of the week.
A big problem is that Elena does not have enough tenure at her job for health insurance. She states she applied for MN Sure but never got confirmation. I will be researching that Monday.
You can imagine the expense involved in such accident without insurance. She doesn't just get on plane at the end of the week but will need medical transport to probably another hospital here and the rehab center, etc, etc.
In situations like this people always ask what they can do. So here it is- I have set up a site on YouCaring for donations. We do plan on litigation as the pier was private property at her hotel with no railings or ropes. In the mean time there will be expenses, particularly the medical transport. I will open an account in Elena's name tomorrow with me as the trustee in which the funds are deposited.
