About the Russian speaking community of Minnesota
The Russian community in Minnesota is pretty big: There are more than 45,000 Russian speaking people living here. A big percentage of Russian language speakers settled down in the Twin Cities area (Minneapolis, St. Paul, St. Louis Park). Also many Russian speakers live in Plymouth, Anoka, Maple Grove, Minnetonka, Eagan, Shakopee, Rogers, Rochester, Burnsville, New Hope, Crystal, etc.
The Russian community generally is stable, has a good income and is well educated. Due to this fact, many Russian speaking immigrants are successful in America, run their own business or have jobs with American companies.
Russian speaking immigrants have been able to establish themselves in almost all areas of business. Among the Russian speaking immigrants are successful doctors, nurses, dentists, chiropractors, lawyers, realtors, insurance agents, financial advisors, accountants, etc. Russian speakers in Minnesota own stores (there are 14 Russian stores in the Twin Cities area), kindergartens, Adult Day Care services, dry cleaning companies, real estate companies, insurance companies, travel agencies, transportation companies, construction companies, gymnastic schools, translation companies, cleaning companies, etc. There are four Russian restaurants in Minnesota and two pharmacies in downtown Minneapolis, the owners of which are the natives of the former USSR.
